Cal\u00adcu\u00adla\u00adtions to eval\u00adu\u00adate pres\u00adsure rise in inter\u00adnal arc cas\u00ades are a valu\u00adable tool for this purpose.<br>\nArc faults in medi\u00adum-volt\u00adage switchgears can lead to con\u00adsid\u00ader\u00adable pres\u00adsure rise and ther\u00admal stress for switchgear and build\u00ading, such as dan\u00adger for staff and passer\u00adbies. The arc\u00b4s pow\u00ader loss depends on the giv\u00aden grid topog\u00adra\u00adphy and elec\u00adtrode lay\u00adout and caus\u00ades a rapid heat up of the iso\u00adlat\u00ading gas\u00ades enclosed in the sys\u00adtem (usu\u00adal\u00adly air, <span class=\"caps\">SF<\/span><sub>6 <\/sub>or N<sub>2<\/sub>\/<span class=\"caps\">SF<\/span><sub>6<\/sub> gas mix\u00adtures). The devel\u00adoped heat fur\u00adther\u00admore caus\u00ades a pres\u00adsure rise inside the switchgear. Due to tech\u00adni\u00adcal rea\u00adsons an imme\u00addi\u00adate shut\u00addown of the affect\u00aded sys\u00adtem is not pos\u00adsi\u00adble. This results in arc times between a few mil\u00adlisec\u00adonds and a max\u00adi\u00admum of three sec\u00adonds. The tech\u00adni\u00adcal imple\u00admen\u00adta\u00adtion of the switchgear demands a cus\u00adtomized con\u00adstruc\u00adtion to avoid dan\u00adger for peo\u00adple in close prox\u00adim\u00adi\u00adty. Over the last twen\u00adty years we have gained both the\u00ado\u00adret\u00adi\u00adcal and prac\u00adti\u00adcal expe\u00adri\u00adence in the field of inter\u00adnal arc faults.
